Recently I was invited to be a guest on the Hellbent for Horror End of the Year Edition podcast, where myself and four other colleagues discussed some of the finer and not-so-finer movies that were released in 2016. While you might not be aware of it, according to wikipedia 113 horror movies were released last year. […]
2017 is going to be a great year to sit back at the cinema and take in some flicks so I compiled a list of 17 movies to look forward to in 2017. The Book of Love Henry (Jason Sudeikis) loses his wife in a car accident so he sets out to help a […]
It’s been almost 4 years since How I Met Your Mother aired it’s final episode and the fate of the gang, including the titular mother was revealed. I was visiting my sister today when that final episode was on and we chatted while it played in the background. As the final credits rolled and pictures […]
I’ll assume it is safe to say that everyone participated in their own Turkey Day Movie Marathon this year? What’s that you ask? You were out shopping on Black Friday instead? For shame. Surely you remember that the real holiday celebrated in November is not that gluttonous meal you attended with your family, but in […]
I stumbled upon this clever short video today on the internet, and it is a real treat for cinephiles like me. The Hateful Thing is a short film connecting the visuals of John Carpenter’s 1982 masterpiece The Thing and Quentin Tarantino’s latest opus The Hateful Eight. The editor here does a really terrific job of […]
Who is the greatest fictional president of all time? It’s election day here in the United States, and after being on double, triple, quadruple super secret probation, I’ve been warned by the Editor in Chief (I mean Chief Editor) Doug that if I post anything political, he and I are going to have an Alexander Hamilton/Aaron […]
Wait… Ant-Man’s physics MAKE NO SENSE! Last summer’s Ant-Man was one of the unexpected delights of the Marvel cinematic universe. Not only did it give us the one founding member The Avengers had been missing (albeit in the form of a different incarnation of the hero) it was also one of the funniest, and […]
One question we get a lot is: “Where does your website’s name come from?” Most Star Wars fans vaguely recognize the reference, but only the elite remember exactly where the name comes from – the base on Hoth that the rebels escaped from in The Empire Strikes Back. So here’s a little history… The famous climax […]
Lambertville, NJ I can only hope that we all live in or near a small town somewhere in America, because that’s where you’ll find a thriving spirit for all things Halloween. That’s not to say that the bright lights of a big city isn’t just as amazing but there’s something nostalgic and heart felt about the […]
Marvel deserves a lot of Credit for Bringing Monsters Back to Comics I had to write this article. I wasn’t going to, but it’s Halloween today and I owe it to you. First of all, comic books and horror stories go together like peanut butter and jelly, death and taxes, sex and headaches… Well, strike […]
The movie starts in a fog-filled graveyard at night with some ominous music. A caretaker sees someone with their back turned standing in the distance, he cautiously approaches and taps the person on the shoulder. With a loud scream, the person turns to reveal a hideous zombie face zooming into the camera and the title Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things appears on the screen.
Turn that Creep-O-Meter up to 10. Not since Ringu have I seen a movie that has made the hair on my arms stand up. That is not the only thing It Follows has in common with Ringu. They are both movies involving curses with the only way to get rid of them is to pass them on to someone else.
