Does The Saint live again?

We watched for The Sign of The Saint. Now, is he back?

Back in 2013, there was an ill-fated attempt to reboot The Saint – the beloved Roger Moore show from the 1960s. Sadly, the Adam Rayner/Eliza Dushku production didn’t get picked up – but that doesn’t mean that The Saint is gone. In fact, rumours abound that a NEW pilot is being filmed right now in Bucharest.

Today, classical actor Kyle Horne posted on his website that he’s “CURRENTLY FILMING: A REBOOT OF A FAMOUS 1960’S SHOW IN BUCHAREST.” Could that be a new, new version of The Saint?

Is this the new face of Simon Templar?

Sources suggest that Britain’s ITV channel has picked up the rights to the classic show, and are aiming to produce a ‘more British’ version than Adam Rayner’s glitzy California-based outing. The glamor and mystery of Eastern Europe seems like a perfect place to set it – and handsome Kyle Horne would make a fantastic Simon Templar.

If this is true, it’s great news for Saint fans – but not without being a little bittersweet. The Adam Rayner version apparently had a great script rich in the heritage of the Leslie Charteris books, and featured cameos by former Saints Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy.

We’re looking forward to a new Saint series – but it would still be great to get a look at the 2013 pilot, and see what might have been. Catch a glimpse below:

Militant Ginger Born and raised in the cathedral city of Winchester, Roland earned his Eurotrash merit badge in Paris before moving to America to seek his fortune. If you've seen it, please give him a shout, because he's still looking. A digital Don Draper with a Hemingway complex, Roland pays the bills with his social media savvy, but under various nom de plumes is a top-ranked Amazon author after hours, and is impatiently awaiting the day he can give up the rat race forever and write schlock in a cabin in the mountains.

I love the Saint. I don’t mind a little Hollywood finesse and Kyle Horne seems to be a chap who could pull a young Simon off. I guess we’ll be steeped in mystery until ITV, or whoever, decides to reveal if this dashing young man is our beloved Mr. Templar, or some other actor. I really wouldn’t mind a fresh face, like Kyle, taking on the role. Fingers crossed it will come sooner rather than later.
