Goosebumps looks like it’s getting a sequel.
The film ended up grossing $80 million domestically plus another $77 million internationally with a budget of $58 million and according to The Hollywood Reporter did well in home movie sales. But really, as a huge fan of the Goosebumps books and TV movie series myself as a kid, it was really good, and I’m glad to hear it’s coming back. Jack Black and the relative newcomers who play the kids were all a lot of fun in the story and the writing and special effects were actually kind of scary, just like a Goosebumps story should be.
The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive from Sony that they’re closing deals to bring back director Rob Letterman and writer Darren Lemke. Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz are returning as producers.
According to THR the goal is to get Jack Black back in the role as R.L. Stein but I’ve checked multiple sources and nothing is official yet. So that’s really all we know. We’ll let you know more as it comes out.
