It’s becoming increasingly popular to add going to the theater as a Christmas Day tradition, and Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence among copious other huge names, looks like a top contender to be the movie of choice for this year. The screenplay was written and directed by David O. Russell, who also did American Hustle (2013), Silver Linings Playbook (2012), and The Fighter (2010). Russell is no newbie to Oscar worthy story lines, with gritty relate-able family/life struggles, while the lead character is desperately attempting to reach their own true greatness or goals. I’d say this one looks like it’s setting its-self up to be the next gold star in this profound lineage. As I mentioned Jennifer Lawrence will star as Joy, but she will be along side Bradley Cooper, Robert De Nero, Virginia Madsen, and Edgar Ramirez. Damn kids, everyone is coming out to play for this one, with a casting lineup like that it’s it would be tough for this not to be a good one. Check out the Trailer below!
It looks like it’s going to have all kinds of feels in this film, and a real fem power coming of age story in a time where it was difficult for a woman to succeed. Can David O. Russell keep the Lawrence-Cooper combo crushing the screen for another movie? On December 25, 2015 we will get to find out!
