During last week’s episode of the Walking Dead, a surprise movie trailer was dropped right in the middle of the commercial breaks. A new science fiction film is coming next summer about the first contact with alien life in space. Things do not seem to go to well for the crew involved and it gets all sorts of ALIEN-like as the new creature seems to be more destructive and powerful than they may have thought.
I LOVE big budget science fiction summer films and this one looks to fit the bill. We have so many potentially great Sci-Fi movies coming in the next weeks and months including Arrival, Guardians of the Galaxy, Passengers and of course the follow-up to the Alien/Prometheus series, Alien Covenant! Wow.
It’s going to be a busy year for Sci-Fi at the movies!
The crew that wrote Deadpool and Zombieland have written this intense looking sci-fi epic. Along with a great cast that includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson. Directed by relative unknown, Daniel Espinosa, I really am not sure what to expect from this. The beats here sure do mimic Ridley Scott’s seminal Alien film, but I’m ok with what I see. There is even a nod to Prometheus in here as well and if they can take that routine and make something new out of it, then I’m all for it. I have not heard anything about this film up to now and it has quickly gotten my attention.
I will be there when the film opens next summer of 2017!
