In honor of the milestone 50th anniversary of Star Trek, the U.S. Postal Service announced it will be releasing a commemorative series of stamps in 2016. The stamps will be marked with the “Forever” cost, so you could conceivably use them regardless of any price increase on stamps after you buy them. But of course if you are reading this then you are probably like me and know that these will never see any chance of being used to mail a letter for any reason. It’s a neat little collector’s item for the fans of Star Trek.
From the press release:
Designed by The Heads of State, who also designed the issuance/panel, each stamp showcases one of four digital illustrations inspired by elements of the iconic Star Trek: The Original Series. Antonio Alcala served as the project’s art director
Star Trek was previously used in a stamp series in 1999, but as part of a larger collection and not only for the Trek series.
